Post Braaaaains!
Hey everbody!

So, since I was able to come up with the way zombies will work in my AFMBE game last night I'm pretty much ready to roll with the game. The only thing I need from you guys are character ideas.

The setting is rural PA since it's close to major population areas without being too close. Plus, if it was good enough for George Romero it's good enough for me. Campers, townies, students, whatever. I don't want specialists to start off with. You could be a doctor, but not a genetisist. You could be national guard reserve, but not special forces. Average people facing an uncommon situation.

I also want to be up front, this is a Zombie Survival game, your character could die. Could be from a zombie, could be from another survivor, could be from bad luck. But that just presents you with an opertunity to come up with another survivor. Heck, might also mean those left alive will have to put down their friend or loved one.

We're all pretty familiar with Unisystem, so character generation shouldn't be too difficult. Also, it's cinematic unisystem, so there may be slight rule variations, but nothing too drastic I think.

So, let the ideas, and brains, flow!

Opportunity. :P

Also, small town Queen of Corn beauty queen! Who loves America, the Republican party, Sarah Palin, and shotguns, just like her daddy taught her! :D

How far into the zombie outbreak are we? That'll help me figure if my idea'll work or not.

Whatever. :P

Also, sweet idea, Autumn. Farmer's daughter it is.

I'm going to say that there have been weird stories on the news about some sort of viral outbreak in some major cities but nothing specific has been reported. So in this little town in Pennsylvania things are just about to start getting weird. What's your idea, Drew?

Hmph, totally stealing my original Supernatural character concept... :P

I'll have to think a bit about what I want to play. Haha, an Amish survivor girl could be fun. Are you going to be allowing any kind of psychic powers or whatever in the game?

Whoops. Don't know why I thought that was Autumn, Katie. Sorry.

Gonna think about that one. If you can make a good case for them and they aren't game breaking, then I could see it happening. I mean, there are Zombies, so some psychic powers wouldn't be too far fetched.

Small town outcast who watches a lot of zombie movies and is kind of a shut-in, being forced to deal with his fellow man for survival.

I imagine he's somewhat pleased by the fact that he gets to put his knowledge to the test? Of course, just because he's a zombie expert doesn't mean he's neccessarily going to be an expert with guns or anything like that.

Or that the movies he watched were right ;)

Hey, gun-toting beauty queen is a time-honored cliche archetype from long before you made Mack Weaver! :P I'll say it now, anyways--I expect the Queen of Corn to die! :D

Exactly right, on both counts. Not very good at being social. Or with guns(although...). And movie zombies don't necessarily translate to what they're fighting.

Exactly. His information could be horribly inaccurate.

And speaking of deaths, I'm going to be using a take off of the old Dark Sun character tree rule. Whenever experience is handed out I'm going to keep track of half the amount handed out which will be able to be used to advance the replacement character. So, if say the corn queen survives for enough adventures to get 20XP before she dies, the replacement character will come in as a starting character with 10XP to spend after character generation. That way, new PCs won't be too far behind and will have had some small amount of experience in surviving.

A fertility figure who is fated to be "harvested" then "resurrected"? That's some mighty fine (albeit twisted) pagan symbolism there! :P

Hm--should AFMBE have its own active game forum as well, for whatever relevant posts or info we'd like to post there?

It would be fun to have a Graveyard thread, once we have some dead PCs :) (None today, but there was a close call!)

Haha, I love that idea! I'm not sure how much stuff will happen for downtime playing, but yeah, I could see both a forum for whatever and a graveyard being fun and useful.
